Public Transport on the Gold Coast |
Getting to the Coast Upon arrival at Coolangatta International or Domestic Airport, please make your way to the "GOLD COAST TOURIST SHUTTLE" desks in the airport foyer.
Passengers will be ticketed and transferred to their vehicle, which will convey them to the door of their Gold Coast accommodation. En route the driver will give a short commentary informing passengers of upcoming events, attractions, shows and other entertainment available during their stay.
If passengers have purchased a return ticket, they are required to call Gold Coast Tourist Shuttle 24 hours prior to their departure date to confirm their hotel or apartment house pick-up time.
Gold Coast Tourist Shuttle operates door-to-door theme park transfers, to and from registered holiday accommodation from Tweed Heads to Runaway Bay. For clients staying on the southern end of the coast, ie Tweed Heads to Mermaid Beach, a separate service operates express from Mermaid Beach to the theme parks.
Clients in the main tourist area, ie Broadbeach/Surfers Paradise, 4 services operate on a door to door basis. These services depart Broadbeach at 0830, 0900, 0930 and 1030. Also available to clients in this area are our Surfside Theme Park Express services which depart every 15 minutes (0830 - 1100) from Pacific Fair and pick up as far as North Surfers before running express to the parks. These services are from designated bus stops and no bookings are required.
Clients staying on the Northern end of the Gold Coast, ie Southport to Runaway Bay, also have and express door to door service to the theme parks.
Bus routes connect you to beaches, cinemas, shopping centres, night clubs and just about anywhere else. Along the Gold Coast Highway, services operate 24 hours a day, and bus stops are conveniently located approximately 300 metres apart.

Buses Surfside Buslines is the major provider of passenger transport on the Gold Coast. The Company holds the Commercial Service contract with Qld Transport for the provision of local scheduled bus services for the region extending from Dreamworld in the north to the NSW/Qld border.
Surfside Buslines also holds a similar contract for bus services with the NSW Department of Transport for the Northern NSW region from Murwillumbah and the Tweed Coast communities to the NSW/Qld border.
The combination of these two contracts has created a unique cross border bus operation over a massive area including Australia's premier tourist destination, the Gold Coast.
Surfside Buslines operates 270 busses and employs over 400 staff. It is one of the largest private bus operations in Queensland and Australia.
Whilst Surfside may be a local bus operator, the nature of its operational environment along the coastal strip of the Gold Coast ensures its position of a major tourist transport provider also, and the opportunity to provide a wide range of tourist services and products.
Surfside's Gold Coast Highway services operate 24 hours a day at 4-5 minute intervals in peak periods. This is one of the highest levels of bus service in Australia and one of the only 24 hour services in Australia.
